Securing competitiveness for tomorrow – With SVA and our own Private Cloud

Nagarro was faced with a major upheaval around 4 years ago. Setting up a new computer center was intended to secure future growth and competitiveness.

Challenge

Nagarro wanted to create a solution, which in addition to sensitive S/4HANA workloads could also integrate other workloads into a Private Cloud business model in a scalable and cost-effective way. Here the separation of the network and IT security design was a central task to be tackled. The aim was to not adversely affect the bandwidth by a firewall for workloads that required the full network capacity. This primarily concerned connections to SAP HANA in-memory databases and to the backup system. Furthermore, it was to be possible to administer dynamically between various virtual machines, and depending on the requirements, also firewalls.

Solution

“We required a partner who was prepared to understand our vision and subsequently could show us what technical equipment would be needed,” remembers Jean-Baptiste Broguière, Managing Consultant at Nagarro. SVA met these requirements completely and we also brought Cisco and Check Point on board as partners as well. “My impression was that at that time no maker on the German market had implemented the idea of the separation of network and IT security design as a whole,” determined Mark Sobol, Department Head IT Security at SVA on looking back, and added “We have jointly made Nagarro’s vision a reality.”

Working together with experts from SVA, Cisco and Check Point, Nagarro finally developed an architecture that served as the basis for its own Private Cloud.

Added value

It was now possible for Nagarro to open up new fields of business. The operation of the Cloud solution that had been created took place in accordance with the desired efficiency criteria. Nagarro has set up something that the big hyperscalers offer as well, in compliance with German IT security standards and completely under its own control – but smaller and more flexible.

This made rapid growth possible as a result. Benedikt Bachhofer emphasizes: “We can say with pride that we are operating one of the biggest S/4HANA Clusters in Europe on our Private Cloud and so being extremely competitive with our business model – both in terms of pricing and flexibility. We intentionally wanted to position ourselves as an alternative to the hyperscalers.”
